Iron deficiency is widespread among people of all ages, especially women and children. Our rapid test can determine if you have an iron deficiency that may be causing your symptoms. The test examines the ferritin concentration in your blood and provides information about your iron stores. This allows you to detect an iron deficiency as early as possible. What is iron? Iron is an essential trace element that the body cannot produce on its own. Therefore, a healthy and balanced diet is crucial for ensuring an adequate intake of this micronutrient and preventing iron deficiency. Iron plays a vital role in the formation of hemoglobin, a red blood cell protein responsible for oxygen transport and the red color of blood cells. Iron also supports the immune system by stimulating the production of immune cells and protecting the body against pathogens. In muscles, iron contributes to increased endurance, and in the brain, it supports cognitive functions such as improved concentration. What is ferritin? Ferritin is a protein and the most important form of iron stored in cells. A small amount is present in the blood and represents the total ferritin used in iron diagnostics. A ferritin blood test indicates the state of iron stores and whether there is a deficiency or excess. An abnormal result from the rapid test means that the ferritin concentration in the blood is below 30 ng/ml and a possible iron deficiency exists. What are the symptoms of iron deficiency? The most important symptoms are paleness fatigue Exhaustion Headache hair loss Faster heartbeat Shortness of breath. They can appear gradually and go unnoticed. How accurate is the rapid iron test? Clinical validation was performed, comparing the results obtained with those of ferritin. The results showed an overall accuracy of 95.1%. Procedure: 1. Wash your hands with soap and rinse them with clean, warm water. 2. Allow the foil packaging containing the test to reach room temperature before opening it. Open the foil packaging and remove the cassette. 3. Carefully peel off the loosened cap of the lancet and dispose of it. 4. Clean the fingertip of the middle or ring finger, the injection site, with the disinfectant wipe included in the package. 5. Press the end of the lancet from which you removed the cap against your fingertip (the end of the ring finger is recommended). The tip will retract automatically and safely after use. 6. Hold your hand downwards and massage the punctured end to obtain a drop of blood. 7. Touch the drop of blood with the pipette without squeezing the pipette. The blood will travel through the pipette to the line indicated on the pipette due to capillary action. If the blood does not reach the indicated line, you can massage your finger again to draw more blood. Avoid air bubbles. 8. Place the collected blood into the sample well (S) of the cassette by squeezing the pipette. If necessary, cover the puncture site with a plaster. 9. Wait until the blood has completely dispersed in the well. Unscrew the cap of the buffer bottle, add 1 drop of buffer solution to the sample well (S) of the cassette, and start a timer. 10. Wait until the line(s) become colored. Read the result after 5 minutes. The result must not be evaluated after 10 minutes. Notes: Please read all information in the package leaflet before performing the test. Store in the sealed foil pouch at room temperature or refrigerated (2-30°C). The test is stable until the expiry date printed on the sealed foil pouch. The test must be kept in the sealed foil pouch until use. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not use after the expiry date. This test does not replace a medical diagnosis.
