Product features: Aquacel Ag Foam Aquacel Ag Foam is an antimicrobial foam dressing with silver and reliable wound edge protection. It combines the comfort and absorbency of a foam dressing with the power of silver ions and the healing-promoting properties of the gel-forming Aquacel Ag wound contact layer. Intended purpose: Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are designed for use as a primary dressing. Under medical supervision, Aquacel Ag Foam dressings can be used to treat exuding acute and chronic wounds that are at risk of infection or show signs of infection. Indication: Aquacel Ag Foam is suitable for the treatment of acute and chronic, moderately exuding wounds that are infected or at risk of infection: Wounds with existing infection or increased risk of infection Leg ulcers Venous stasis ulcers Ulcera cruris of mixed etiology Arterial ulcers Pressure ulcers Diabetic foot ulcers Surgical wounds Second-degree burns Traumatic wounds Aquacel Ag Foam can be used as a primary dressing for superficial wounds and as a secondary dressing for wounds 3 mm or deeper in combination with a wound filler, e.g. Aquacel Ag+ Extra. Contraindications: Aquacel Ag Foam dressings should not be used in cases of known intolerance to the dressing or its components. Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are not compatible with oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or hypochlorite solutions. Precautions and warnings: Sterility is only guaranteed as long as the wound dressing packaging remains undamaged and unopened before use. Do not use the product if the packaging has been damaged or opened before use. In this case, the product must be disposed of according to local regulations. These wound dressings are for single use only and must not be reused. Repeated use of the product may increase the risk of infection or cross-contamination. Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are water-resistant but should not be submerged while bathing or swimming. This dressing should not be used with any other wound care products without first consulting a healthcare professional. After the adhesive foam dressing has been cut to size, additional adhesive tape may be required to secure the dressing to the wound. With the non-adhesive Aquacel Ag Foam dressing, additional fixation bandage or other fixation is always required to secure the dressing to the wound. Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are not compatible with oil-based products. During the bodys normal healing process, dead tissue is removed from the wound (autolytic debridement), which can initially make the wound appear larger. Because Aquacel Ag Foam dressings create a warm, moist environment that promotes the growth of new blood vessels, these delicate new vessels may occasionally produce bloody wound fluid. Physicians/healthcare professionals should be aware that there is very limited data available on the long-term and repeated use of silver-containing products, particularly in children and newborns. Skin discoloration has been observed following prolonged use of silver-containing products; however, this is often temporary and resolves after the silver-containing dressing is removed. If you observe skin irritation (redness, inflammation), maceration (softening of the skin with white discoloration), hypergranulation (excessive tissue growth), or signs of infection (increasing pain, bleeding, warmth/redness of the surrounding tissue, wound exudate), or a change in the wound color and/or odor during a dressing change, please contact the doctor or nurse. Aquacel Ag Foam dressings are MRI-safe according to their design. After use, this product may present a potential biological hazard. Treat and dispose of it in accordance with accepted medical practice and applicable local laws and regulations. If a serious incident occurs during or as a result of the use of this product, please report it immediately to the manufacturer and the relevant national authority. Duration of application: Aquacel Ag Foam dressings can be worn for up to 7 days. If clinically indicated, the dressing must be changed sooner. The need for Aquacel Ag Foam should be reassessed after 14 days, and alternative wound care should be considered if necessary. Instructions for use: Do not use the product if the packaging is damaged or opened before use. In this case, dispose of the product in accordance with local regulations. Before applying the wound dressing, the wound and surrounding area should be cleaned with an appropriate wound cleansing solution – for example, sterile saline solution. Preparation and application of the bandage: Select the size and shape of the dressing so that the central absorbent pad (the area within the adhesive window) is 1 cm larger than the wound area. Remove the dressing from the sterile packaging, avoiding touching the wound contact area and adhesive surface (if applicable). Before using the adhesive foam dressing, remove the protective liner. The foam dressing can be cut to size if necessary. Hold the foam dressing over the wound and align the center of the dressing with the center of the wound. Place the absorbent pad directly onto the wound. For the adhesive foam dressing, smooth the adhesive edge. Ensure that the dressing is not stretched during application. Smooth the adhesive edge of the adhesive version. Ensure that the joints are sufficiently flexed to allow for patient mobility. If the foam dressing does not have an adhesive edge, or if the adhesive foam dressing with an adhesive edge has been cut to size, it should be secured with a suitable fixation bandage or adhesive tape. For hard-to-reach anatomical areas such as the heel or sacral region, the special shapes (heel, sacral) can be used. Dispose of any unused portion of the product after covering the wound. Removing the foam dressing: The foam dressing should be changed when clinically indicated (e.g., leakage, bleeding, increasing pain). The recommended maximum wearing time is seven days. The wound should be cleaned at appropriate intervals. To remove the foam dressing, gently press on the skin and carefully lift one corner of the dressing. Continue until all corners have been detached. Carefully lift the foam dressing away from the wound and dispose of it properly. Storage: Store at room temperature (10°C to 25°C). Keep dry. Protect from light. Source: www.convatec.com As of January 2024
