Effective against Phlebotomus for 5.5 months. Contact with water does not reduce the effectiveness of the CaniShield collar. The active ingredient in the Beaphar Canishield collar, deltamethrin, is gradually released from the polymer matrix that makes up the collar and is applied to its surface. From there, the active ingredient is transferred to the lipid layer that covers the dogs body surface. Deltamethrin is a very lipophilic substance (i.e. it retains fat) and is therefore distributed over the entire body surface by the fat layer that covers the skin and fur. The release of the active ingredient from the collar and its distribution over the entire body surface takes place throughout the entire duration of the collars effectiveness. The CaniShield collar repellent against mosquitoes, ticks and fleas is part of a new generation of triple-action collars, with deltamethrin as the active ingredient: against fleas, Phlebotomus and ticks. For external use only. The collar should be placed around the neck. It takes 7 days to take effect and can be safely used on puppies over 7 weeks of age and small to medium sized adult dogs. ADVERSE EFFECTS: - in rare cases (less than 10 out of 10,000 animals), local skin reactions (itching, hair loss, redness) have been observed on the neck or the entire body surface - in very rare cases (less than 1 in 10,000 animals), behavioural changes (e.g. lethargy) associated with skin irritation have been reported - in very rare cases (less than 1 in 10,000 animals), gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea or salivation have been reported. - in very rare cases (less than 1 in 10,000 animals), neuromuscular disorders such as uncoordinated movements and muscle tremors have been observed Symptoms disappear within 48 hours of removing the collar. If you notice any side effects, contact your veterinarian. PRECAUTIONS: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid prolonged contact with the collar or the dog. Consequently, dogs should not be allowed to sleep in the same bed, especially with children. The active ingredient in the collar, deltamethrin, is harmful to aquatic organisms, so the dog should not enter natural waters when wearing the collar. Optimal protection against parasites develops after one week, so it is advisable to apply the collar one week before a possible risk of parasite infestation.
