NAME: ANTHELMIN PLUS XL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Each tablet contains: Praziquantel 175 mg, Pyrantel embonate 504 mg, Febantel 525 mg. EXCIPIENTS: Lactose monohydrate, Corn starch, Povidone K-30, Sodium lauryl sulfate, Microcrystalline cellulose, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Magnesium stearate. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: For the treatment of mixed infestations caused by the following roundworms and tapeworms in adult dogs. NEMATODES. Ascarids: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina (late immature forms and mature forms). Hookworms: Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum (adults). TAPEWORM. Flatworms: Taenia spp., Dipylidium caninum. CONTRAINDICATIONS / ADVERSE EFFECTS: Do not use concomitantly with piperazine compounds. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not exceed the specified dose when treating pregnant bitches. DOSAGE: 15 mg/kg body weight of febantel, 14.4 mg/kg of pyrantel and 5 mg/kg of praziquantel, equivalent to 1 tablet per 35 kg body weight administered orally. The tablets may be halved to allow for precise dosing. Administration and duration of treatment: It is not necessary to withhold food access either before or after administration of the product. To ensure the administration of a correct dose, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. For the control of Toxocara, lactating bitches should be treated 2 weeks after calving and every 2 weeks until weaning. In cases of severe roundworm infestation, a repeat dose should be administered after 14 days. For adult dogs, a single dose should be used. It is recommended to seek the advice of a veterinarian regarding the need and frequency of repeat treatment. STORAGE: This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. WARNINGS: Fleas act as intermediate hosts for a common type of roundworm (Dipylidium caninum). Roundworm infestations will certainly recur unless control of intermediate hosts such as fleas, mice, etc. is undertaken. Parasite resistance to any particular class of anthelmintic may develop after frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic of that class. The use of this product is not recommended in dogs weighing less than 17.5 kg. Unused half tablets should be discarded. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: In accordance with hygiene standards, anyone administering the tablet directly to the dog or by adding it to the dogs food should wash their hands. In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice and show the package leaflet. Overdose: The product is well tolerated in dogs. In safety studies, doses up to 5 times the recommended dose caused occasional vomiting. TARGET SPECIES: Dogs (large and giant breeds). INTERACTIONS: Do not use concomitantly with piperazine, as the anthelmintic effects of pyrantel and piperazine (used in many dog deworming products) may counteract each other. Concomitant use with other cholinergic compounds may result in toxicity. ADVERSE REACTIONS: None known. PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: Consult a veterinarian before treating pregnant animals for roundworms. The product can be used during lactation. Do not use in bitches during the first two trimesters of pregnancy
