Vitamin C is an essential nutritional factor, with topical application of vitamin C being the elective way to compensate for deficiencies at the skin level. It acts as a cofactor that stimulates the synthesis of collagen and connective tissue. Its action in whitening hyperpigmentation spots, which are normally associated with the skin aging process, is also important.
